You’re moving into a home with security devices
A new house may come with an existing home security system. All the devices function well, are hung in the best spaces, and are ready to go. In this instance, just get the phone to call and set up a new service contract. A Vivint installer will still come out to make sure there are no usability issues, and they could offer suggestions on upgrades. It's a fast visit, and you can have your monitoring set up without having a bill for any new components -- unless you make additions.
The old homeowners can move an existing Vivint contract to you for a nominal transfer fee to make the transfer easier. If the previous owners are moving to a condo or retirement community, transferring the home security service may be a part of the sale.
You want to move and bring your old components with you
You may need to bring along your old home security components with you to a new house when you move. Luckily, it's pretty simple to accomplish, as most alarms and smart devices are plug and play. You can take down each alarm or camera by yourself or call a Vivint expert to come and take care of everything. Then a pro will put in the same devices -- and any smart items you want to add -- in the new place. Your home security contract will keep the same.
